WHERE TO HIDE FROM THE MASSES IN NUREMBERG

CAFÉ LA VIOLETTA . NUREMBERG

WHEN SHOPPING & SIGHTSEEING IN BAVARIA’S 2ND BIGGEST CITY,

THERE MIGHT COME THE POINT WHEN YOU ARE LONGING FOR A PLACE TO SIT,

A NICE DRINK & MAYBE SOME BITE TO EAT.

BUT WHERE TO GO?

Nuremberg has way more to offer than their horrible 50s style shopping streets Lange Gasse und Breite Gasse. I grew up about an hour’s drive from their but never enjoyed visiting. It hurt my architectural trained eye and lacked charme and style. Medieval Nuremberg has suffered dramatically from the bombings of WWII and the huge gaps had to be filled quickly and economically back in the 50ies in that brutal architectural style of that period

It all started with beautiful medieval-french café La Violetta, ducked away in a backstreet close to Galleria Kaufhof Shopping Mall. A friend took me there, of course! 😉 There, among galleries and jewellry shops in picturesque Fachwerkhouses, lies the coffeeplace gem with an adjacent flowershop. In summertime you get to sit even outside at little round marbel tables and on cushioncovered windowsills.

You must try their chocolate pavlova tarte with frozen raspberries and whipped cream (…if there’s any left at all) !

SO SIMPLE YET SO HEAVENLY!

You order at the counter downstairs and carry your sweet treats upstairs an old wooden staircase (mind your head!) onto a somewhat dark, wooden panelled room with a long table in the middle and a chandelier above and all different kinds of other cosy furnished corners to unwind and enjoy an uplifting break.

Recharge at that beautiful place.

BREATHE THE WORLD’S DIVERSITY WITHOUT FEELING LIKE A TOURIST

Enjoy with bliss!
