FALKENSTEINER SPA HOTEL . BAD LEONFELDEN . AUSTRIA
IN REMOTE SPA RESORT & HOTEL FALKENSTEINER
BAD LEONFELDEN IN UPPER AUSTRIA’S MUEHLVIERTEL
“Ich liebe Deine Fotos.
I love your photos.”NATASHA SEIDL
Let me take you to an area of Austria you would most likely not go by yourself first choice. Let me take you to the corner where Germany and Czech Republic meet Austria, the ‘Muehlviertel’ (area of mills), far away from the Alps (for austrian terms). Upper Austria.
Why the heck should you drive 2.5 hours west of Vienna, passing by beautiful Wachau, or heading half an hour north of Linz?
There’s really nothing there.
And that’s exactely the point my friend:
RELIEVE. RELAX. RECHARGE.
In the middle of nowhere.
No fancy shops, no hip bars, no cosy cafes, no famous restaurants, no slopes to head downhill, no mountains to climb. Just this spa hotel on the hill surrounded by green fields outside Bad Leonfelden and rolling hills. Beautiful modern architecture with a traditional nudge and a cosiness that you don’t want to leave the house. The rooms are so beautifully designed (huge bathroom with separate toilet and a spacious shower and a bathtub on demand) and comfy that it’s a hard to decide whether to relax up there or take the spa lift down to the 1800sqm sauna and recreation area with a indoor/outdoor pool and plenty of different daybeds to put your towel and yourself.
In the name of wellbeing – all day long
All you have to do is get up, do some qi gong that’s on offer downstairs or use the gym for free or swim before the opulent breakfast buffet packed with local, organic stuff, like fresh omelett of your choice to be made in front of your eyes! or lukewarm Apfelstrudel besides different kinds of whole grain bread and cheese and fruits and…
After breakfast head to the spa reception to see which ‚Aufgüsse‘ (aromatic steam saunas) are happening today.
OMG! The sauna experience at the Falkensteiner Bad Leonfelden is the best I have ever had. And I can recommend them all. Every saunamaster has their unique and loveable way to make those sweaty 20-30minutes a pleasure and inspiring time. Whether it’s some jokes, a thoughtful story or some special music – mostly finished by a treat from the kitchen matching the announced ‘theme’.
Doing 2-3 times sauna during the day, maybe a massage in between, a nap, a swim, a lot of time for the long wanted to read stack of mags an books and time flies! Better stay 3 nights than 2 for that reason, really.
No need for leaving the premisses.
The dinner is either a buffet or a la carte dining and afterwards you can lounge in the lobby in front of the huge open fire place under a massive luster made from antlers. The bar is tempting also and maybe you end up spending the evening playing a game of cards or a popular board game again or head back up to your room to watch tv or continue reading.
TAKE A RISK AND SPEND SOME DAYS IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE ;-)
(SWITCH OF YOUR PHONE?!)
P.S. We’ve stayed there in winter and in summer and both I can recommend! The hotel offers some outside activity also, like walks, golf, snowshoeing or biking but as I said before, time flies and we’ve never had ‘the time’ to leave the premises.
